My last blog post was about my favorite fitness gadgets, so I thought I'd do one on beauty products that I have become fond of specifically because they fit into my fitness lifestyle.

I was never much of a makeup girl most of my life until the last few years. When I decided to do my own makeup for my wedding and couple years ago (I can't believe it's already been 2 years!) I started learning more about how to apply it properly and experiment with some different products. I never used to understand women wearing a full face of makeup to the gym just to get all sweaty and ruin it, but I guess I can understand a little better now, if it gives you a little extra confidence which transfers into working harder and feeling better about yourself in the gym, I'm all for it. Everybody has their reasons. For me, the gym is my second home and the place I spend most of my time since it's my place of work. Teaching classes and being up in front of people, I do feel better having a little makeup on. Trust me, it doesn't happen all the time, especially when I'm up at 5am and doing cardio at 5:30 before opening the gym...but I digress.

Here it goes: My top 5 favorite "fit girl" beauty products.

I started using this foundation on and off a couple years ago, it's a fairly new product for this company. When I started actually wearing makeup more regularly, I used Bare Minerals powder foundation. I think I got their starter kit and liked what they stood for. In recent years when I started to test out different liquid foundations I found this Bare Pro foundation.

I like it because it's light, but provides great coverage, you don't need to use a lot of it, and most of all it stays put when you sweat! Big plus for me as I'm dripping sweat while teaching a SPRINT or Body Pump class in front of a full class. It's not melting away and barely comes off much on my towel if I blot the sweat away. I've now tried quite a few different liquid foundations and this one is definitely my fav. Also, it has SPF 20 so it's also giving your face some sun protection.

I have been on a mission for many years to find a go to mascara that I love. I found L'oreal Paris Voluminous to be the one I kept going back to, which I still use as a non-water proof basic mascara. This 4D Fiber mascara though is next level. It's water proof, but doesn't pull your eyelashes out when taking it off and comes off very easily. It adds a ton of volume and length and stays put once it dries. So for me, it's great for the gym...I can trust I don't have black running down my face half way through class. A word of caution though: it can be messy. If you mess up, or get it on your hand or somethings, it's pretty sticky. This is wear coconut oil comes in handy big time. See below 😊

I have tried A TON of different aluminum free deodorants over the years. When I was a young teenager my Dad once told me "don't use antiperspirant deodorants. They cause breast cancer." I'm not sure if that statement is 100% true, but ever since then I only used natural deodorants free of aluminum. I guess his statement worked and scared me enough to never use them again.

Now as someone who sweats A LOT, and sweats as part of my job and then has to work with people after sweating a lot of times, I definitely need something that can help keep the stink down. I discovered this deodorant and few months ago, still on my first stick, but I absolutely LOVE it. It smells delightful! I probably smelled each scent 5 times before making a decision in the store, because they all smelled great. And the most important part: it actually works and lasts a long time. Love, Beauty, and Planet for the win!

This one may seem silly because it's so damn simple, but I absolutely love this stuff. I'm weird about certain things on my lips and this chapstick feels good, looks good, and does the job. Can't go wrong. I have these stashed all over the place. In my car, in my gym bag, in my bathroom, kitchen, night stand, jacket pocket...good stuff.

5. Coconut oil as makeup remover

Coconut oil is an AMAZING make up remover. Seriously, it works better than anything else I've ever tried, especially for things like eyeliner that can stick around for a while and get messy. You can rub it all over your face and wipe away before washing, or you can spot remove with a little bit on a Q tip or cotton ball. Plus, you can use it for so many other things like cooking, moisturizing, and even as a personal lubricant (yup 🙄)

I hope this gives you some ideas and maybe some new things to try and hopefully love as much as I do. Send any questions my way!
