Ditch the DIET RULES

Do you create hard rules for yourself when trying to lose weight?

Have you fallen victim to strict rules set by diets you've tried in the past?

These "rules", although were probably meant to be positive and help you succeed, usually do the opposite. They promote an all or nothing mentality and the feeling of restriction.

The way you eat does not have to be black and white. Good food vs. bad food. The more rigid guidelines and rules that make you feel restricted, usually means the more you will rebel at some point and give up on your weight loss efforts.

Try this instead:

Think about the foods you eat on a spectrum. There are less optimal choices and more optimal choices. Focusing on being just a little bit better rather than perfect.

Think about the rules you have created for yourself or others have passed on to you throughout your life. Are they helping you achieve your goals? Or are they serving as a road block when things don't go perfectly and cause you go off the rails completely?

This will be different for each person, some people do need rigid guidelines based on their history, but often times they create more of a problem than they fix. If you need help figuring out what's best for you, I can help.
